As we welcome the new year, we wanted to take the time to look back at some of what we have done over the past year and share the recipes and posts that are our favorites.
10: Grilled Asparagus with Parmesan Curls: A delicious and super simple preparation of one of our favorite vegetables. This is so easy and looks awesome, it is a sure fire hit for anything from a backyard barbecue to a formal dinner party.
9: Chicken Divan: We had never heard of this comfort food classic before Katie found the recipe. This is one awesome casserole.
8: Chicken Chili: We got this guest recipe from Katie’s sister. This is a recipe that can feed a crowd, and although it has a lot of ingredients, is really quite easy to put together. It also freezes well, so we could enjoy it later.
7: Jerk Chicken: Thanks Richard, you made my grill happy! This was a great break from my usual BBQ chicken, and one that we are definitely making again.
6: Cordon Rose Cream Cheesecake: We love cheesecake, and this is an excellent recipe for a classic.
5: Shrimp Scampi: This is an old standby recipe that we have made several times, but we worked hard to follow the recipe and use fresh ingredients, and the batch we made for the blog was the best yet.
4: Sticky Toffee Banana Pudding: Katie made this and it was wonderful! It looked just like the picture, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with several people who all raved about how good it was. We were really proud of this one.
3: Dessert Cactus Cake (Colette’s Chocolate Cake): This is our favorite dessert, although it was a tough pick between this and the previous one. The decorating was neat, but what won us over was the cake. This is the best chocolate cake that either of us have ever had… EVER.
2: Justin Wilson’s Shrimp Creole: According to our stats this was by far the most popular post of the year, and we really enjoyed it as well. We should have some more creole/Cajun classics in the coming year, since we have acquired one of Justin’s Wilson’s Cookbooks.
1: Brunswick Stew: This was our number one favorite recipe! We love Brunswick stew, and this froze well, so we were able to enjoy it a couple of more times without any extra work! It not only is one of our favorite foods, but this recipe is the best one we’ve eaten. It makes the chicken a perfect texture and is really just delicious.
These are our favorites, but what are yours? We know that the Shrimp Creole got the most hits, but what about our readers? Share your favorite recipes either from our blog, or recipes that you like to make at your home. Again, thanks for reading and we’ll be back next week with another new recipe!
