Smucker’s Orange Chili Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 cup Smucker’s Sweet Orange Marmalade
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground red pepper or hot pepper sauce (to taste – add more for a spicier sauce)

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and mix well.  Heat the sauce until in comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer for 1 minute.

Use the sauce immediately as a marinade and baste for grilled chicken, ribs, beef or pork. Or, cool and store in the refrigerator for future use.

Yield: 6 servings (about 1 pint)

Gray:  This was really good.  it was the first time I have made barbecue sauce from scratch, and it was really fun.  Grilled chicken and pork chops are two of my favorite things, and using home made sauce makes it more fun.  I am definitely going to be making more sauces in the future.

Katie: I thought this was a great sauce! That being said, I don’t think it was significantly better than other sauces we have used on chicken. Gray enjoyed making the sauce, so I think it was worth it on that level. We will be trying other sauces in the future, though!

Update! While we weren’t blown away when we used this sauce on chicken, it was excellent on pork chops! We could not believe how tasty our pork chops were and will be making more!
